I first opened the doors of this huge content creation studio in 2010, located within an old cotton mill in Stockport. Imagine a blend of a New York loft apartment and a traditional Russian ballet school, filled with stunning backdrops and props, plus a huge white corner infinity cove! This creative space primarily serves as a photo studio rental and filming location, suitable for a variety of creative projects. Lights, modifiers, stands, and more are all included in the rental price, and lighting assistance is available.
After the death of Ephraim in 1897, the building was sold to Faulders, a confectionery company known for its sweet products branded 'Squirrel', which became the company name in 1930. This name remains visible on the side of the building. In 1968, Squirrel (Squirrel Horn) vacated the premises, and since then, the space has been transformed into a content creation studio. This content creation studio has become a popular filming location and offers a versatile photo studio rental for various creative projects.
Since then, various small businesses have occupied the mill, with one notable example being the Moulin Rouge Music Studio. While it may be lesser known than the nearby Strawberry Studios, this content creation studio has become a popular filming location and has hosted many of Manchester's finest musicians, including The Happy Mondays, The Verve, Johnny Marr, The Doves, and Badly Drawn Boy. Additionally, the space offers a versatile photo studio rental for creative projects.
In 2010, I first opened the doors of Hallam Mill Studio (Truedefinition) as a content creation studio. Initially, it served as a base to shoot products for my wholesale business. However, as that business declined, I shifted my focus entirely on transforming the space into a premier photo studio rental. Since then, it has evolved into a sought-after filming location, utilized by some of the world's leading companies for both film and stills. Our esteemed clients include BBC, Netflix, Gucci, Adidas, Puma, Remington, The Hut Group, Aldi, GQ, and Hello Magazine. Notable celebrities who have visited include Michelle Keegan, Jack Grealish, Virgil Van Dyke, and many more!
