About Hallam Mill
A short history
I first opened the doors of this huge creative space in 2010, located within an old cotton mill in Stockport. Imagine a blend of a New York loft apartment and a traditional Russian ballet school, filled with stunning backdrops and props, plus a huge white corner infinity cove! This venue serves as a versatile content creation studio and primarily functions as a photo studio rental and filming location, suitable for a variety of creative projects. Lights, modifiers, stands, and other equipment are all included in the rental price, and lighting assistance is available.
After the death of Ephraim in 1897, the building was sold to Faulders, a confectionery company known for their sweet products branded 'Squirrel', which became the company name in 1930. The name can still be seen on the side of the building today. In 1968, Squirrel (Squirrel Horn) vacated the building, which has since transformed into a popular content creation studio, serving as a unique filming location and offering photo studio rental for various creative projects.
Since then, various small businesses have occupied the mill, with one notable example being the Moulin Rouge Music Studio. Although perhaps lesser known than the nearby Strawberry Studios, this content creation studio has hosted many of Manchester's finest musicians, including The Happy Mondays, The Verve, Johnny Marr, The Doves, and Badly Drawn Boy. Additionally, the mill serves as a popular filming location and offers a photo studio rental, making it a versatile space for creative projects.
In 2010, I first opened the doors of Hallam Mill Studio (Truedefinition), which began as a base for product shoots for my Wholesale Business. As that business declined, I shifted my focus entirely on developing this space into a content creation studio. Since then, it has become a premier filming location and photo studio rental, utilized by some of the world's leading companies for both film and still photography. Notable clients include BBC, Netflix, Gucci, Adidas, Puma, Remington, The Hut Group, Aldi, GQ, and Hello Magazine. Celebrities like Michelle Keegan, Jack Grealish, Virgil Van Dyke, and many others have graced the studio!
